The Department of Education released the following press release on the 13th February More red tape slashed to reduce apprenticeship bureaucracy – GOV.UK.  In essence announcing new board appointees, introduction of shorter Apprenticeship from August 2025 (from 12 to a minimum duration of 8 months), government giving employers more flexibility over English and Maths requirements for apprentices.

Additionally, there will be changes to End Point Assessments (EPAs), making the system simpler and more flexible.  Training providers will be able to deliver elements of the assessment, rather having to reply on external assessors, and assess Apprentices during their training rather than all at the end.  The government is also ensuring apprentices don’t have to be re-tested on the same skills they have already demonstrated, such as by taking a mandatory industry exam.
