Join the South East heat winners of the Young Horticulturist of the Year in the surroundings of Merrist Wood College. Watch and cheer them on as they compete for a place in the Grand Final and a chance to win the £2,500 Percy Thrower Travel Bursary.
Set in on a 400 acre site just outside of Guidlford, this year’s venue for the regional final, is one of the country’s leading land based colleges providing qualifications and training in horticulture, arboriculture, floristry, and wildlife conservation. The contestants will be asked a wide range of horticultural questions, some through buzzer round, and others directed to individuals. There are also two identification rounds to further test the depth and breadth of knowledge. The regional final awards 1st place with £150, 2nd place receives £100 and 3rd place £75. The winner progresses on to the Grand Final at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew on Saturday 11 May.
